Short of it: If you work from home/coffee shops, move along.

At first, I was really impressed/excited. I sat down and unloaded my stuff, had about 4 emails that needed attention right away. I figured I'd knock them out and order lunch/coffee and get to coding and studying for an upcoming meeting in DC. I even twittered to some friends to have them come meet me.

Before I could finish the fourth email, the owner/manager lady came up to me and was all rude saying I needed to buy something or leave (I'd say I was there for 4, maybe 5 minutes. Just finished setting up). I bought the minimum for visa cards to be square and left it behind to head somewhere else. It's one thing if the place was packed, it's one thing if I had been there for even more than a few minutes, and it would have been one thing had she simply said "Sir, may I get you something?"

To treat me like an ass after 5 minutes really really pissed me off. Not the type of thing you expect at a coffee shop where typically working out of is encouraged.

"Damn hippies, get off my internet!"

Tip for owners: Next time, try "Sir, may I get you something?" instead. It'll have to be on somebody else though, because I won't be going back.

If you are in town looking for a coffee shop, there is a panera across the street, java surf off 5th/A1A and of course starbucks (if you have evdo, so you dont have to pay for their internet of course ;)

One of the best cafes anywhere, with local art on the walls, local musical talent on the weekends, and local Talent in general behind the counter.

Ask for Whitney, order a Tall Paul, and listen to the tunes ... maybe buy a painting right off the wall (hopefully one of mine, but as long as SOMEONE's getting rich out there, you know?).

Go there on a Friday or Saturday night with live music - you can't miss.
